Personal Note:
Feel

Susie Vanderlip was motivated to create
and tour Legacy Of Hope® as a result of the
death of her first husband from the unintentional
overdose of alcohol, cocaine and Percodan
(pain killer) at the age of 35. Sweethearts
from the age of 15 and married upon graduation
from college, their relationship spanned
18 years. His drinking and drug use began
socially in college, after which, as a dentist,
he added prescription drugs and eventually
illegal drugs which he used socially with
other accomplished professionals.
The progressive disease of addiction proceeded
to create trauma and turmoil in their home,
their finances, and eventually their marriage.
The deterioration of the marriage led to
divorce in June of 1984. In August 1984,
he died. Susie has been involved in support
programs for the families of alcoholics
and addicts since 1982.
Eight years after his death, Susie went
into the dance studio to choreograph a piece
about relationships. Over the next six months,
writing, choreographing, rehearsing and
Beta testing the material on a wide variety
of audiences, Legacy Of Hope® was premiered
under its original title, LEGACY OF OBSESSION,
at Cypress High School, Cypress, California
during Red Ribbon Week, October, 1991. As
she may be heard in response to audience
questions, she felt God put a "burning
bush" on her doorstep, channeling this
remarkable performance piece through her
and creating the path to thousands of emotionally
distressed teens and their families.
Since that time, the LEGACY outreach has
continued to evolve, incorporating the stories
of real people Susie has met along the way.
The LEGACY mission continues to bring awareness,
Hope and healing to the children, friends
and families adversely affected by someone
else's drinking, drug use, neglectful and/or
abusive behaviors. To
